Anyone familiar with the movie The Ring may recognize the first stanza of what I call "Samara's Song". The little girl, Samara, is seen singing this in the movie when her origins are revealed. She's standing by a well as her insane mother approaches with lethal intent. I've never heard (and am too afraid to Google it) more of her song, so I wrote my own fun, dark version of it.

And don't worry. After reading this poem, if your phone rings, I'm sure you won't hear a creepy girl's voice whisper, "Seven days..."

Samara’s Song
Here we go,
The world is spinning,
When it stops,
It’s just beginning.
See the pit
It’s built for storing,
All the dead,
Who get no mourning.
See the sky,
The potter’s wheeling,
Block it out,
A ring of ceiling.

Here we go,
The world is spinning,
When it stops,
It’s just beginning.
Hear the night,
It world is sleeping,
Feel the rain,
My death is seeping.
Hear the screams,
The worms are crawling,
When they stop,
My bones they’re gnawing.
You killed me,
You think you’re winning,
But your pain,
It’s just beginning.
